Sneaky Green Smoothie

Sneaky Green Smoothie

I love this smoothie for either breakfast or an afternoon pick-me up! The beautiful combination of spinach and banana rich in energy bursting B vitamins, and coconut oil which contains medium chain fatty acids burned for immediate energy, provide the perfect zing! Coconut oil is also rich in lauric acid which has antimicrobial properties, including antifungal (think Candida) and antiviral (think influenza).

Yoghurt, Chia seeds and tahini are good sources of calcium important for strong bones. And chia seeds have an abundance of fibre for a healthy digestive system. Protein is also utilised as an energy source, strengthens the immune system, provides the building blocks for neurotransmitters (think serotonin, dopamine and adrenaline) and delivers the ingredients for growth and repair of your muscles.

Cocao is bursting with antioxidants and is a also significant source of magnesium. Great for recovery of tired muscles.

Method:

Blitz in blender, and serve.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO THE HEALTH OF FUTURE YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO THE HEALTH OF FUTURE GENERATIONS 🙌🥰🤗 Shockingly over 50% of our children struggle with chronic illness rooted NOT IN GENETICS but environmental factors such as pesticides, pollution, over medication and industrialised foods leading to severe nutrient deficiencies.
There is one simple solution for managing the uncertain times in our world today - PREVENTIVE HEALTHCARE. What can you do to feel amazing and strong.
Preconception health care, pregnancy and paediatric care is the best gift you can give to your child. Children are amazingly resilient and respond well to natural therapies.
Chronic illness in old age can be traced back to this crucial time in your life. It is never to late to start modifying environmental factors to give yourself and your child the best health and life possible.

I believe ALL MOTHERS should wake up and feel I ca I believe ALL MOTHERS should wake up and feel I can do this. I have the resilience, courage and energy to face today 🙌🙌🙌❤️❤️❤️ After giving birth your sex hormones oestrogen and progesterone drop dramatically to menopause-like levels. Whilst at the same time there is a huge rise in oxytocin, the “love and bonding” hormone.
As mothers we have ridden the roller coaster of emotions from heart bursts to sadness and even anxiety.
I think it’s super important to know this so you can be prepared as a mumma.
Common conditions I see in mothers are depression/anxiety, depletion, fatigue, thyroid conditions, difficulty losing weight and PMS.
This may all be prevented with some extra special care and personalised measures (ideally starting in pregnancy)... however it is never too late to adopt lifestyle and natural medicines to bring the body back into balance and feel amazing like you deserve 💝
PREGNANCY is often described as a ‘window of opp PREGNANCY is often described as a ‘window of opportunity’ 🙌 As the mother, being in your BEST health possible before and during pregnancy WILL influence critical stages of your baby’s development and help create a happy and healthy child.
The VITAMIN D status of all my ladies is always tested to assess optimal levels and determine whether safe prescription is required. The mother’s level will affect her baby’s level at birth.
Vitamin D is essential for protecting your child’s brain and nervous system, and will assist with learning and behaviour.
Prenatal vitamin D deficiency can compromise your little one’s immunity contributing to asthma, allergies and poor immunity.
Just one of the factors that is extremely important to assess in preconception and pregnancy care ❤️ #womenshealth #pregnancy #partusprep #labour #birth #naturopathy #nutrition #herbalmedicine #ttc #infertilitysupport #ivfsuccess
Great news the Government has lifted restrictions Great news the Government has lifted restrictions on IVF, which since March was considered a non urgent elective surgery.
I feel for all those couples trying to fall pregnant who have no other option but utilise IVF and had been left in so much uncertainty. "It has been surreal, like a bad nightmare," Dr Burmesister (fertility specialist at Number 1 Fertility in Melbourne) said. "A lot of our patients have been so upset and they were already in a dark place so it spiralled them into an even deeper place”

While there had been psychological impacts on patients, she was hopeful there would be no long-term effects on their fertility.

Did you know that your MENSTRUAL CYCLE affects you Did you know that your MENSTRUAL CYCLE affects your IMMUNITY.
Yes as women the way we respond to illness changes across the month.
In the FIRST HALF follicular phase women are better able to fight off infections from viruses and bacteria as the body is trying to make itself as healthy as possible for an impending pregnancy.
AFTER OVULATION with the upsurge of oestrogen and progesterone the body mounts more of an inflammatory whole body response because if you are are pregnant it’s the whole body that it is concerned with. So in the second half luteal phase women are more susceptible to upper respiratory tract infections and viral and bacterial infections.
KNOW your CYCLE and make appropriate adjustments to your diet and lifestyle... particularly in the second half to offset this.
Diet wise stick to whole foods, avoid sugar and refined carbs (including alcohol) which lower immunity. Gut health is the key.
Manage stress and look after your sleep. Specific nutrients and herbs are wonderful for balancing the body’s physiology to promote better dealing with cravings, calm and rest.
Appropriate dosages of zinc and vitamins A and D works wonders. Herbal medicines andrographis, astragalus, echinacea, elderflower and medicinal mushrooms are magic.

So many things have changed in our world right now So many things have changed in our world right now undeniably creating a lot of stress and sadness.
Stress majorly impacts everything in our bodies and particularly as females your MENSTRUAL CYCLE.
Good bye period! Or maybe you have had a shorter cycle due to what is called a luteal defect (not enough progesterone to sustain your uterine lining).
This is frustrating for baby naming but also will change how you feel as progesterone has a beautiful calming effect on the body. Hello PMT crazy lady 🤯
What are you doing today that you love? 🙌😘❤️💕

THYROID AND RECURRENT PREGNANCY LOSS All of my cou THYROID AND RECURRENT PREGNANCY LOSS
All of my couples trying to conceive and my pregnant ladies are tested for thyroid function. The gold standard is a full thyroid panel and antibodies.
This is so important because optimal maternal thyroid function is needed for normal embryonic and fetal development, especially neurodevelopment.
Thyroid dysfunction is effectively treated with natural remedies with or without in complement to medication(s).
This meta analysis found that thyroid autoimmunity (presence of thyroid antibodies), irrelevant of thyroid function itself, is associated with increased risk of miscarriage, recurrent pregnancy loss and pre-term birth.
The study confirms that levothyroxine, the medication used to treat hypothyroidism, is not effective at treating thyroid autoimmunity.
Wow aren’t we lucky that there is a vast array of natural medicine measures incorporating a wholistic approach (diet, therapeutic nutritional supplements, herbal medicines, lifestyle factors) that is effective at treating autoimmunity.

Ladies a HEALTHY OVULATION is your super power!! I Ladies a HEALTHY OVULATION is your super power!! I am so passionate about educating women about the importance of having a healthy cycle, and not using band aid measures, to mask underlying issues. Of course medications are useful when needed, however it saddened me to hear these words from a patient, visiting her well meaning GP this week, that I am helping re-gain her period after 10years on the oral contraceptive pill... “go back on the OCP because at least you will have a “period” and it doesn’t matter that you won’t be ovulating because you don’t want children yet”. Firstly a pill bleed is not a real period. A pill bleed is simply a withdrawal bleed from synthetic hormones.
It can take months, years and sometimes an extremely long time for ovulation and periods to return after being on the pill. Unfortunately alot of women want to be pregnant the instant they come off (and I get it I’ve been there!) and it is beyond frustrating when their cycle doesn’t return. Or it does return but they suffer from longer irregular cycles and a lot of PMS 😡
When a woman ovulates they make their oestrogen and progesterone.
OESTROGEN is your queen hormone, your happy or yang hormone. It stimulates mood, libido and allows better exercise muscle returns.
PROGESTERONE is your calming hormone which promotes relaxation and enhances good quality sleep.
You see when you are cycling in balance your body thrives and loves you for it.
Unfortunately too many women put up with the side effects that may come with the pill shutting down their own hormones. I bet if men were offered the same contraceptive solution they wouldn’t put up with it.

EVERY WOMAN should know how to CHART THEIR CYCLE. EVERY WOMAN should know how to CHART THEIR CYCLE.
It is not just the length of your cycle that matters. It is important to know WHEN YOU OVULATE to determine the length of your first half follicular phase and second half luteal phase.
This will give you so much information about what is happening with your hormones and health in general.
Your period is a report card of your health for the previous 3 months.
This is such a useful tool for correct conception timing, and also natural contraception.
And so empowering to know what is happening with you. Because your hormones are your superpowers.
I love teaching women all of the principles of Natural Fertility Management. Get pregnant faster. And liberate yourself from the side effects of artificial contraception.
This only applies if you aren’t taking any contraception as a “pill” bleed is not a real bleed as your natural hormones are taken over by synthetic hormones.

HOW TO GET PREGNANT BY ME I believe in a wholistic HOW TO GET PREGNANT BY ME
I believe in a wholistic approach addressing many lifestyle factors.
Making healthy and happy babies has an important and powerful impact utilising a combination of referral to conventional medicine if needed complemented with natural therapies.
There is the need to spend enough time talking to patients about what they can do themselves for their fertility. There is loads and loads YOU can do to take matters into your own hands preventively to help yourself.
CONCEPTION PLAN falls into a couple of pillars of action:
1. NUTRITION - all about the diet you should be on. A sustainable, nutrient rich, varied whole food diet with lots of plants and good quality animal products.
2. PHYSICAL MOVEMENT - regular exercise that is prioritised into every day. It improves blood flow to the reproductive organs, balances hormones, aids healthy weight and released endorphins.
For PCOS it can help with regular ovulation.
Guideline is for benefits to mother and baby 150mins per week (20-30mins/day). 3. TOXIN FREE LIVING - it sounds drastic but involves cleaning up your environment and home. Removing things which could potentially interfere with hormones (endocrine disrupters) and things that negatively affect sperm and eggs i.e. alcohol, smoking, cleaning and personal care products, radiation, water. A recent Italian study looked at premature ovarian ageing due to pollutants in the air exposure.
4. STRESS MANAGEMENT- we are all exposed to a lot of stress and you need to work out how to cope with that stress so that your body doesn’t suffer. The messages feeding the mind effects your biochemistry, hormones and fertility. Trying to address your stress is crucial with things that you love to do every day.
For the majority of cases I see it is not easy. It is a commitment that ultimately will improve your own health and the health of the offspring through epigenetic reprogramming.

A literature review was conducted looking at the a A literature review was conducted looking at the adverse effects of the oral contraceptive pill (OCP) and nutritional deficiencies.
The OCP is among the most commonly used medications world wide.
The OCP has been linked to menstrual cycle irregularities, cardiovascular disease, digestive disorders and diminished mental health.
Optimal nutrition plays a fundamental role in optimum health. Associated nutritional deficiencies include B vitamins, vitamin C and minerals such as zinc and magnesium.
I am extremely passionate about educating women about this, recommending better forms of contraception and helping women regain their health and menstrual cycle coming off the OCP.
I received this email today... “I feel great and my periods have improved significantly... I feel like a new woman.” Of course if a woman decides to stay on the OCP there is a lot we can do as natural therapists to complement this medication and prevent side effects such as addressing nutritional deficiencies through diet and supplementation, ensuring oestrogen is being eliminated appropriately and boosting antioxidants for cell protection.
